Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit israbible.com, why, and how to exercise your rights. In short: we collect the bare minimum, we never sell any data and we use no advertising cookies.
Data controller
The site is published by IsraBible, whose publication director is Israel Aiache (see the legal notice, which also names the site's hosting provider). Contact: [email protected].
Contact form
When you write to us through the contact form, we receive your first name, your last name (optional), your email address, the subject and your message. This data is used solely to reply to you; the legal basis is your request and our legitimate interest in answering it. It is sent to us by email, is not stored in a database on the site, is never passed on to third parties and is not used for marketing. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request, and no longer than three years after our last exchange.
To prevent abuse, the sender's IP address is kept in pseudonymised (hashed) form for one hour in order to limit the number of messages sent.
"My tour": stored in your browser
The places you add to "My tour", or that the "Plan my tour" planner suggests, are saved only in your browser's local storage (localStorage). This list is never sent to our servers and we have no access to it. You can delete it at any time with the "Clear all" button or by clearing your browsing data. If you use the "Share" button, the list of stops is included in the link after the "#" sign: that part of the address is not sent to the server, but it is visible to anyone you send the link to.
Cookies
IsraBible uses no advertising cookies and no social media trackers. A single technical cookie (a session cookie) is set, and only on the Contact page: it protects the form against spam and expires when you close your browser. As it is strictly necessary for the form to work, it does not require consent.
Server logs
Like any website, our server records technical logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type). They are used solely to keep the site secure and running properly, and are kept for a limited period of no more than twelve months.
Audience measurement
The site may use a privacy-friendly analytics tool (such as Plausible), which works without cookies and only produces aggregate statistics — pages viewed, country, device type — with no individual tracking. No advertising or targeting tools are used.
Maps, navigation and videos
The interactive maps use OpenStreetMap tiles. They are only loaded when a map is displayed on screen; your browser then contacts OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address as with any web resource.
The Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps buttons are simple links: nothing is sent to these services unless you click them.
YouTube videos are not loaded when the page opens: only a preview image, supplied by YouTube, is displayed. The player, in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), only loads after you click the play button; Google's privacy rules then apply.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, as well as the right to restrict or object to its processing and the right to data portability. To exercise these rights, write to [email protected]; we will reply within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
